Dress Diaries.

We began wedding dress shopping today - yyyyyaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy!!!!! [Insert trumpets and cheering crowds of people here]

This activity was a stellar way to kick off this week's Mandatory Sunday Brunch - where my darling Daisy and I traditionally just stuff our faces with food and drink at random spots throughout the city while of course enjoying the company of our favorite [willing to get out of bed on a Sunday] friends.

The spot:  RK Bridal on 39th btw 8th and 9th.

The pluses:
* No need for a reservation - in fact, they don't even take them.
* There's no pushy sales lady following you around talking you in and out of dresses.
* The prices are incredible (Read: all easily under $2000). the two dresses I liked most were $1300 and $490!

The minuses:
* Did you see that picture above?? Yeah, where in the world do you start?!
* No real individual service (at least until you get into the dressing room) and definitely no food or drink allowed inside (and if you're anything like me, you kind of pictured enjoying this experience with a crystal champagne flute in your hand).
* It can be crazy busy there and we had to wait over an hour to get into a dressing room... but that, my friends, was no big whoop and here's why...

Meet my Cheerleaders!

On the left here we've got Miss Cristina, everyone's favorite cocktail server and the recipient of today's biggest high five for bringing along the bottle of bubbly!

And who could forget my Daisy Mae and all her glory. It is her we have to thank for organizing this whole adventure!

And so, as one can imagine, if you take Jillian and add Cristina and Daisy, multiply that by a bottle of champagne and divide what's left by an hour long wait = you get the three of us in a .99 cent store looking for paper cups.

Paper birthday cups to be exact because... well... we were feeling mighty festive at that point.

Conveniently, there was a flee market on the corner that caught our eye and we even randomly ran into a group of our friends - you could never anticipate how easy it is to run into people you know on the street of NYC until you move here.
I was a happy girl.

Back in the bridal shop and as commanded by Daisy, we took "the champagne to the face" and got back down to business. We had chosen 8 dresses to try on laboring under the following criteria:

* Can not be bleach-your-teeth white in color.
* Spaghetti straps are a plus.
* Vintage inspired is a must, especially if it had an organic appeal that will suit a vineyard wedding.
* Blush or cream colors are possibilities.
* Low back and/form fitting tends to suit my shape.

I should hire Daisy and Cristina out because seriously these girls are amazing. They chose the majority of the dresses I ultimately tried on and easily 6 of them could have worked happily. It was as if each dress received more fanfare than the last.

Here's one shot we got in before the shop ladies put on the kibosh.

Oh stop it, this is not the dress. I'm not revealing it here and now. Matt will in no way be getting a glimpse of my final choice until the big deal - no matter how many times he asks. You hear that Matt? Its been written in the blog - it doesn't get more official than that. :)

We did find one dress that everyone loved above all the others and I have the model number tucked safely away. I'm glad we didn't buy anything today because I want to do this so many more times!

IT DOESN'T GET MUCH BETTER THAN THIS!
